Nokia E90 Firmware Update is Here

At last, Nokia has released a much-awaited firmware update for its Nokia E90 Communicator. The latest firmware is v210.34.75 and offers a number of very interesting and useful fixes and features.

Probably the most important update is addition of Flash Lite 3 with Flash video support. This means watching YouTube videos directly. So far, so cool.

New 'Set up Internet telephony' shortcut on standby screen.

Quickoffice now comes version 4.1.27.5. There are a number of useful improvements and fixes.

It seems that an overall device speed and stability has been improved as well. At least this is noticeable.

These are what AAS reports so far. I am at the moment downloading the recent version of the software updater, which unfortunately does not support Vista.

I will be backing up my device tomorrow and installing the new firmware.

Unfortunately, some people especially with AZERTY keyboards say that they had problems. Mine is a version with AZERTY keyboard as well.

New Nokia E90 Firmware or An April Fool?

AllAboutSymbian.com is reporting that a new firmware update for Nokia E90 Communicator is available. Further, according to the web site, the update is available for non-branded devices only.

Mine is non-branded E90 and when I ran the NSU, it just said that my firmware was up-to-date. I did update to 7.40.1.2 just two days ago and I thought I already had this new firmware but had not noticed it. But oops, when I ran the Flash player it's the same old 2.0.

Updates speculated by AAS are very nice and interesting. It seems that this is just a beta version of the update and not a public release. Anyway, I hope to see Nokia releasing this update soon.

Nokia Releases Firmware Update for E90 Communicator

Nokia has released a new firmware for Nokia E90 Communicator. The new firmware v7.38.0.2 is already available and is supported via Nokia Software Update (NSU).

There are many minor improvements in this firmware update, however the most important and useful feature that appeared is AGPS. AGPS, which means Assisted-GPS, is a technology to dramatically improve GPS performance. GPS chips by themselves take several minutes to find your location. With AGPS, a GPRS connection and server is used and the time to fix your location is reduced from 40-60 sec to 15-30 sec.

Full change log can be viewed on SymbianFreak.com.
